Galicia consolidates as a tourist destination in full growth and exceeds for the first time the 12.4 million overnight stays until October, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). All this represents an increase of 66,000 nights compared to the same period in 2023, 1.4% more. The increase confirms the strength of the sector and positions the Autonomous Community as a key reference for both national and international tourism, with record figures and a constant flow of visitors.

International tourism, the engine of growth

One of the most outstanding factors of this progress has been the increase in international tourism, which already represents 31% of the total number of overnight stays in Galicia. So far this year, foreign travelers have accumulated almost 3.9 million nights in Galician accommodations, an increase of 3.8% compared to the previous year.

Likewise, the average daily expenditure of international tourists has experienced a notable growth, reaching 110 euros, 16.9 % more than in 2023. This improvement has had a direct impact on hotel profitability levels, which have risen by 7%.

As for the distribution of visitors, 82% of overnight stays were grouped around the hotel sector, and the remaining 18% around non-hotel options, such as hostels, campsites or tourist apartments.

October: month of records

October has been key in this upward trend, with more than 1.1 million overnight stays registered, which implies an increase of 19.5 % over pre-pandemic levels in 2019. During this month, 657,287 travelers visited Galicia, of which 39 % came from abroad, reinforcing the growth of international tourism.

The results confirm the diversification of the offer and the community’s capacity to attract visitors outside the high season. Galicia is consolidating its position as an attractive year-round destination and is positioning itself strongly on the national and international tourism map.
